FAQs

  • Yes, all our trees are grown on the Estate within one mile of the Priory. As we sustainably grow and harvest all our own trees we are continually cutting trees throughout the festive period to ensure they are as fresh as possible and will look perfect in your home.

  • We specially select the seeds from the wild or carefully vetted seed orchards. The seeds are grown for four years in a nursery before being planted in the tree fields for a further 8 years (for an average 6-7ft Nordmann Fir). Your tree will therefore have taken approximately 12 years to grow during which time it will have absorbed carbon dioxide and released oxygen which helps fight global warming as well as providing an amazing habitat for indigenous wildlife and insects.

  • Yes, we can deliver the tree you have selected. The delivery charge will depend on the distance from the Priory.

  • You can pay by cash or card, I am afraid we can no longer accept cheques.

  • We open on from Saturday 23 November to Sunday 22 December. Monday to Friday 10am – 6pm and Weekends 10am – 4pm.

  • Yes, please phone or email us – you will find the details on our contact page. We do get very busy during this period so if we don’t answer please leave a message and we will get back to you as soon as possible.

  • Different varieties suit different homes and tastes. If you live in a very hot house a non-drop fir would probably be best but if the smell is important to you then you may prefer the more traditional spruce. Please see the Our Trees page for more information or come and visit us and our expert staff can assist in helping you select the perfect tree for you.

  • We would suggest cutting half an inch off the bottom of your tree and standing it in water until you want to bring it indoors. When it does come inside make sure you place it in a stand that can contain water and continue to water it every day – a fresh tree can drink up to a litre a day. Please try to avoid putting it near a fire or radiator as this will dry it out and can cause needle loss. Avoid Instagram fads that tell you to give it hot water or even Coca Cola – they will not like it!

  • A real tree is good for the environment and provides shelter and food for so many birds, insects and all manner of wildlife. They are so much better for the environment than plastic trees which are predominantly imported from overseas and have a carbon footprint ten times worse than the burning of a real tree after Christmas. Alternatively choose a pot grown tree and bring it in every Christmas and then plant it in your garden after Christmas.
